Joao Felix is able to leave Atletico Madrid in January if a club agree to a loan deal before a permanent £86m move, sources have told Nothing but Newcastle

What’s the latest Newcastle United news?

The Portugal forward has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs after a difficult time of things in the Spanish capital. According to 90 Min, Newcastle have held talks.

This season, the 23-year-old has been handed only five La Liga starts, which is hardly what many would have expected following a £113m move to the club from Benfica in the summer of 2019.

Atletico’s CEO Miguel Gil Marin has already said Felix’s exit would be “reasonable” to expect and the player’s relationship with manager Diego Simeone is said to have broken down.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the forward and sources have told NBN that a loan deal with a view to permanent £86m move in the summer would be something Atletico would consider.

Will Newcastle sign Joao Felix?

That would appear to be hugely unlikely.

The upcoming January window will seemingly be a rather understated affair and the club are reportedly now targeting central midfielders following Jonjo Shelvey’s injury.

Felix is the kind of big name Newcastle just have not targeted since the takeover. Talented as he may be, spending that kind of money on such a high profile player would not be in keeping with the strategy we’ve seen so far.

What has Joao Felix said about the Premier League?

During an interview with Adri Contreras (via Mundo Deportivo), Felix rather surprisingly revealed his favourite English club to be Leeds United.
