Eddie Howe has confirmed Newcastle United have not picked up any fresh injuries for Sunday’s Premier League with Manchester United.

While Alexander Isak is said to have made progress on his return from injury, the Sweden international will not be in contention for the trip to Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, however, Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton could start after coming off of the bench against Brentford as the team continue to ease out of their injury crisis.

There are decisions to make with Joe Willock and Jacob Murphy impressing in recent weeks, while Matt Targett is rivaling Dan Burn for a spot at left-back.

Miguel Almiron is in fantastic form and will almost certainly flank Callum Wilson up front, while the rest of the back four largely picks itself.

“If you can go into these games with confidence and a good feeling, it gives you the best chance of a positive result,” said Howe of the game during Friday’s pre-match press conference.

“The next group of games are tough but we’re going to try and attack them, rise to the occasion and give our all to get a positive result.”

Newcastle United predicted XI (4-3-3): Pope, Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Wilson, Saint-Maximin

Injured: Isak, Shelvey

Time and date: 2pm BST, Sunday October 17, 2022

Venue: Old Trafford

Referee: Craig Pawson, Jarred Gillet (VAR)
