Bruno Guimaraes hailed the “amazing” Miguel Almiron after the Newcastle United star sealed Wednesday’s win over Everton.
What’s the latest Newcastle United news?
Almiron scored the only goal of the game, hitting a tally of five for the first time in his career on Tyneside with a brilliant finish from outside the box to beat Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal.
Like Joelinton before him, the 28-year-old is making great strides under Eddie Howe’s management. Now Newcastle’s top scorer this season, only Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Aleksandr Mitrovic and Ivan Toney have bagged more thus far.
That in itself is an amazing achievement. For a player so often derided for his end product, Almiron’s huge improvement is fantastic to see.
Interestingly, teammate Guimaraes has already contributed three assists towards the Paraguay international’s tally, hinting at a partnership perhaps not many expected when the Brazilian arrived in January.
What did Guimaraes say of Almiron?
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the game (via BBC Sport’s LIVE blog), Guimaraes said: “Miggy [Almiron] is an amazing guy. I am really happy because all my assists here have been for him. I am proud of the team, it was a big step for us today.”
