Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has confirmed Joe Willock has been involved in training all week since missing the win over Wolves at St James’ Park.

Still, with Bruno Guimaraes impressing on his first start in front of home support and both Jonjo Shelvey and Joelinton firmly established as key players these days, it would seem fairly unlikely Howe will want to chop and change too much.

Elsewhere, there is better news on Ryan Fraser. After coming off less than twenty minutes into the Wolves win, there were concerns the Scottish international had suffered a hamstring injury, although Howe hinted Fraser – another to have impressed since November’s managerial change – could feature against Leicester City on Sunday.

Miguel Almiron, however, played a key role in last week’s victory and may well have done enough to be handed a start as he looks to save a Newcastle career that could reportedly come to an end this summer.

Newcastle United predicted XI (4-3-3): Dubravka, Manquillo, Schar, Burn, Targett, Shelvey, Guimaraes, Joelinton, Saint-Maximin, Wood, Almiron

Injured: Kieran Trippier (foot), Callum Wilson (Achilles), Matt Ritchie (knee), Federico Fernandez (fitness)

Venue: St James’ Park

Date and time: Sunday April 17, 2022 at 2.15pm BST

Referee: Jarred Gillett, Lee Mason (VAR)
