Callum Wilson has delivered his verdict on the future of Newcastle United.
What’s the latest Newcastle United news?
While the signing of Kieran Trippier was certainly promising, it has been a frustrating period for Newcastle United.
Following the club’s takeover, much has been made about the calibre of signings the club can realistically hope to attract during the January transfer window given they are steeped in a relegation battle as things stand. Throw in the fact that many of the current players may not feel like they’ve got a long-term future following the change in ownership and there are certainly teething problems for the PIF ownership.
Indeed, that’s without even mentioning a difficult first transfer window. Trippier aside, the owners look to have been frustrated in their attempts to bring new players through the door and provide Eddie Howe with improvements to what has been one of the worst sides in the Premier League thus far.
Where do we go from here?
Well, it’s hard to say.
Clearly, new signings are needed but Howe must focus on getting more out of the players that are currently at the club. The draw against Manchester United just after Christmas was one of the best performances of the season but the humiliating loss to Cambridge United in the third-round of the FA Cup spoke of all manner of problems.
Unless there is a significant improvement, the owners will see their side relegated to the Championship with a whimper.
What did Callum Wilson say about the club’s takeover?
Speaking to Amazon Prime, the striker said: “It’s a club that’s going places, really.
“You feel that its a bit of a sleeping giant.
“With the right owners that have come in place and getting the right players in the door, it’s going to push the club further to new heights.”
