Predicted XI: Newcastle United vs Leicester City

Newcastle United could go level on points with Watford and breathe more life into their bid to beat the drop win on Sunday.

Largely, life under Eddie Howe has been promising.

Indeed, while the loss to Arsenal was disappointing, Newcastle could well have beaten Brentford were it not for an unlucky deflection and a Joelitnon slip and may have taken maximum points from their clash with Norwich City had Ciaran Clark not foolishly been sent-off early on.

On paper, a trip to Leicester City looks difficult but Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled this season. Only Newcastle, Watford and Norwich have conceded more often than them this time around and that’s without even mentioning their recent Covid outbreak.

Clearly, Howe has defensive problems of his own and there are plenty of forward options who can trouble one of the worst backlines in the Premier League, though it does feel like this is as good a chance as Newcastle are likely to get to beat Leicester.

Both Fabian Schar and Ryan Fraser are likely to be available and, though Clark is suspended, Paul Dummett is the only injury absentee.

Newcastle United predicted XI: Dubravka, Murphy, Schar, Lascelles, Lewis, Shelvey, Hayden, Willock, Saint-Maximin, Wilson, Joelinton

Injured: Paul Dummett (calf)

Venue: King Power Stadium

TV channel and live stream: Sky Sports Premier League/Sky Go app
