What’s the latest Newcastle United news?

According to Football Insider, the North London giants have been advised not to sign the teenager after scouts watched him in action for the club’s youth team and will no longer attempt to bring him down to the capital.

Clearly, it’s hard to make a huge judgement on whether or not this is a major boost for Newcastle but, according to the report, Clark is highly regarded behind the scenes, so the idea of keeping him long-term must be seen as positive at least. Indeed, while the pathway into the first-team for academy products hasn’t always been clear at James’ Park, followed the Longstaff brothers earlier this by making his debut, so at least there have been signs of more truth in the youth.

Given Newcastle aren’t expected to have a huge amount of money to spend this summer, perhaps there will be a natural opportunity in which to bed in young players, providing Steve Bruce’s team aren’t battling relegation.

Who is Bobby Clark?

The son of former Newcastle star Lee Clark, Bobby Clark first rose to prominence by competing in BBC’s Wonderkid Challenge.

Listed as a right-footed midfielder by Transfermarkt, he’s called a ‘Number 10’ during the BBC intro and an article in The Chronicle in September 2019 revealed he’d broken a record for being the youngster player in the club’s history to make his U18 debt, doing so at the age of 14 years and 206 days.
