Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, who are already looking to find a replacement, according to GOAL.

Steve Bruce is an admirer of the player, but the club face competition from fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester City, whilst European sides Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on the player.

The Colombian has a a market value of £13.50 million, via Transfermarkt, but manager Steven Gerrard has put a massive £40 million price tag on the player, via GOAL.

This is understandable, as Morelos has managed to score an impressive 29 goals and ten assists in 46 appearances this season, via Transfermarkt.

He would be much needed firepower to a Newcastle strike-force that has disappointed this campaign. Summer signing Joelinton de Lira has failed to make an impact since his £39.60 million move to England last summer, per Transfermarkt.

The Brazilian has only managed one goal, via WhoScored, in the Premier League this season, whilst wingers Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron have scored two each, via WhoScored.

The Magpies have also only scored 25 goals in Englands top flight this season, per SofaScore, which is the joint fewest alongside bottom of the league Norwich.

Even though they currently look somewhat comfortable as they sit 13th, per SofaScore, they could have made sure of their safety in the division if they had a prolific striker like Morelos in their ranks.

If the club were able to secure the signing in the summer, it would be a great bit of business, as he would be an ideal solution for their problems upfront.
