The January transfer window may well have been a quiet one thus far for the Newcastle United first-team but, as the club confirmed yesterday, they have managed to strengthen their academy in the shape of a new addition.
Indeed, following the signings of Kyle Scott and Jake Turner over the course of the summer, the Toon Army have moved for Queen’s Park 16-year-old attacking midfielder, Reagan Thomson. The youngster had revealed he’d penned a contract on his Instagram account some days ago but, subject to international clearance, the club have confirmed his move on a scholarship contract.
According to the press release posted on NUFC.co.uk, Newcastle fought off interest from England and Scotland for the player’s signature and, while he clearly is an addition for the future, he has already played in the first-team for the Spiders. Featuring for the Scottish U17 side of late, he progressed through the same academy as Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson and describes himself as a number 10 who likes ‘to try and get behind or thread passes’.
With all that in mind, here’s a look at how fans reacted to the deal.
