Newcastle United’s injury list made grim reading after the loss at home to Leicester City to kick off 2020 but some good news emerged on the club’s official Twitter feed.
Indeed, ahead of the FA Cup draw with Rochdale, Steve Bruce lamented his crisis as ‘crazy’ and the Mirror reported as many as eleven first-team players were unavailable. In turn, that actually forced the Magpies boss into naming a fairly strong XI for the trip to Spotland – one including internationals such as Christian Atsu, Emil Krafth and Yoshinori Muto as well as £40m signing Joelinton and £50m-rated Sean Longstaff – but the less said about that performance the better.
So rather promisingly, with a tough trip to Wolves next up on the calendar, the club confirmed a number of players six players were back in full training. The names include the likes of regular faces Paul Dummett, Jetro Willems, Andy Carroll and Miguel Almiron while Dwight Gayle is also on his way to being available.

The club’s admin did note Dummett down as English when he was a full Wales international up until his recent retirement at that level but that did little to stop Toon fans reacting with joy.
With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the reaction.
