As takeover talk rumbles on in regards to Newcastle United, journalists such as Mark Douglas and Luke Edwards have refused to be swept up in the rumours having seen similar ones before, perhaps the most sensible way of reacting given the past with the Bin Zayed Group and Amanda Staveley.
For the Sun, however, caution doesn’t appear to be the name of the game here. Hours after they reported that the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund would target a move to bring Rafa Benitez back to St. James’ Park, they compiled an ambitious potential XI should both aforementioned moves go through.
Amazingly, they’ve included the likes of Jadon Sancho, Moussa Dembele (who has been previously linked) and Kalidou Koulibaly alongside current players such as Sean Longstaff, Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie at left-back. Given the mix of names – with only Dembele linked before – the idea of such a team ever being assembled was torn apart online.
With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the reaction.
