According to Portuguese outlet, O Jogo, Newcastle United are keen on making a move for Braga’s Ricardo Horta – a man who has previously bagged against the Magpies, during a miserable 4-0 loss in Portugal back in 2018.

As @NUFC360 point out, O Jojo claim a fee of around £10m could be enough to bring the 25-year-old to England but Sport Witness suggest it could take between €25m-€30m, which would actually set the Toon Army back around £21.9m-£25m due to the apparent release clause in his contract.

So far this season, Horta is averaging more shots per game (2.9, via WhoScored) than anyone in the Magpies’ squad, while making the same number of key passes per game (1.7) than the influential Jonjo Shelvey, who ranks second in that metric on Tyneside as we stand. Couple those with his four goals (only Shelvey has scored more) and 3 assists (which would see him rank joint-first on that front were he to play in black and white) and Horta is beginning to look like a creative hub.

Obviously, the Portuguese league may be considered a level below to the Premie League but the Magpies aren’t exactly blessed with options on the attacking front, so here’s a look at how fans reacted online.
