Michael Owen has predicted that Newcastle United will draw with Burnley over the weekend.

The Magpies are currently on an unbeaten run of three games in the Premier League, and the former Ton striker expects them to continue that run going with a share of teh spoils against Sean Dyche’s men on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to Bet Victor, he said: “Burnley have lost six of their last eight league games while Newcastle are unbeaten in three and have picked up seven points from the last nine available.

“The Clarets begin the weekend only three points above the drop zone and they badly need a positive result at what is likely to be a nervous Turf Moor.

“I expect them to pick up a valuable point against a Magpies side whose upturn is epitomised by Jonjo Shelvey who has been in outstanding form of late.”

OPINION

This one could really go either way, truth be told. The Clarets are on a poor run of form themselves at the moment, and while the Magpies are in considerably better shape, they are still looking like a wholly unpredictable entity. Last weekend’s win over Southampton was a lesson in fighting to the last, but even then, on another day, it could have gone a whole lot differently for Steve Bruce’s men, with the Saints having 19 shots to the Magpies’ 12, and 55% possession, as per the BBC. Throw in an injury to chief mischief maker Allan Saint-Maximin, and this weekend’s clash against Sean Dyche’s side could present a real challenge for the Toon Army. That being said, the chips have been down at other points this season, and that has tended to be when the Magpies have dug in best and gotten their act together. The long and the short of it is that it could be another rollercoaster Saturday afternoon for the travelling Toon fanbase.
