OPINION
Newcastle United fans must be wondering if their side is cursed. Every time something good happens, it feels as if it is snatched away from them. Last season, for example, just as it looked as if Rafa Benitez had turned this side into something worth shouting about, the Spaniard upped and left for a new life in China. Nothing quite as dramatic has happened this year, but nonetheless, there’ll be a fair few Toon supporters crying themselves to sleep after hearing that new talisman Allan Saint-Maximin has been sidelined for a month with a hamstring injury, as per Sky Sports. After a slow start to life in England, the Frenchman was just starting to find his groove for the Magpies, and now he’ll have to watch from the stands for the busiest period of the footballing calendar. The 22-year-old has established himself as a cult hero on Tyneside already, and it’s not hard to see why. With 4.5 successful dribbles per game this season, as per Whoscored, he is a constant source of threat and excitement, and entertainment value aside, he is arguably United’s most threatening prospect. Taking him out of the team at this point in the season isn’t just a shame, it’s a real blow too.
