OPINION

At the moment, Allan Saint-Maximin doesn’t appear to be able to do any wrong for Newcastle United at the moment. The French winger scored his first goal for the club in midweek against Sheffield United, and he followed that up with a first half against Southampton that was full of his usual flair and trickery. Make no mistake, when the lad gets going, he is one of the finest dribblers in England, and his average of 5.4 successful dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season, as per Whoscored, is really something quite special. His injury issues will still be concern for many supporters, and to see him pull up and start limping at one point against the Saints will no doubt have cause panic for many Toon fans. In truth, this probably wasn’t even Saint-Maximin anywhere near his best, but he possesses such a rare talent for getting fans out of their seats that he need only pull out one or two moments of magic per game to get people talking. The two key points for him now are to stay fit and to start adding more end product. If he can do those things, he will go down as a Toon hero.
