Newcastle United are aiming to blow Premier League rivals Everton out of the water for Portuguese sensation Matchoi Bobo Djalo, according to Football Insider.

The outlet claims that the Magpies and Toffees are both in for the young winger, who is also on the radar of Southampton and Italian champions Juventus.

The 16-year-old has burst onto the scene with Pacos de Ferreira this season, and Newcastle have been regularly scouting him ahead of a potential January swoop.

The Primeira Liga side are expecting bids for the teenager next month, who is the youngest player to ever appear in the Portuguese top flight.

OPINION

This is exciting stuff for Newcastle fans, that’s for sure. However, whether they can actually pull off a deal for the youngster remains to be seen. Djalo’s made just two appearances for his club thus far, but the fact that he has even done that says it all about how much natural talent he possesses. He is the youngest ever player in the history of a league which has seen stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe and Bernardo Silva break through. That says a lot about the ability of this young man. So it’s no surprise that Newcastle are desperate to get in there ahead of Everton, Saints and Juve next month. The problem there is that, even though the Magpies are planning to blow the Toffees out of the water, the Italian heavyweights could easily do just that to Steve Bruce’s side. Hopefully, though, the scouting work that the north east giants have put in will enable them to get a leg-up on the competition and do a deal for Djalo come January.
