Newcastle United will finish 16th in the Premier League this season, according to talkSPORT’s super computer.
The broadcaster has predicted that the Magpies will just about avoid relegation to the Championship, finishing above Watford, Southampton and Norwich, missing out on the bottom three along with 17th-placed Aston Villa.
Newcastle were widely tipped to suffer the drop this season when Steve Bruce was hired to replace Rafa Benitez in the hot seat but wins against Tottenham, Manchester United and West Ham currently sees the Magpies sit 15th after 11 matches played.
OPINION
It seems as though it’s an accurate prediction on Newcastle. Although a lot of fans will still argue that Bruce’s poor management and the lack of goals could lead to relegation, results so far have suggested otherwise. Newcastle have had a tough start to the season. They have already played against five of the regular top-six sides and aside from their meeting with Manchester City later this month, they have some winnable fixtures on the horizon. Newcastle have done better in the games they have not been expected to win though, like in their trip to Tottenham and St James’ Park clash with Man United. Scoring three goals in the 3-2 win at West Ham on Saturday was also a surprise so there is a good chance that this Newcastle team will continue to pull the rabbit out of the hat as the rest of the 2019/20 season progresses.
