Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has taken to Twitter to give his take on the Magpies’ 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
The Toon Army came from a goal down to beat the Cherries courtesy of goals from Deandre Yedlin and Ciaran Clark.
Steve Bruce’s men subsequently move up to 11th in the Premier League table, and are just two points off Sheffield United in fifth.
Writing on his personal account, Shearer simply wrote: “Toooonnnnnn Arrmmyyyy”.
OPINION
What a win this was for Newcastle. Not only does it catapult them clear of that the dreaded drop zone, and inconceivably within spitting distance of a European spot, it also means that they have recorded back to back wins for the first time this season. That has to be seen as a positive thing, and there’s no doubt that this was a much more assured attacking display from the Toon Army. With 20 shots on goal, and nine of them on target, as per the BBC, this was a really promising outing, and had it not been for some questionable finishing from the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron, they could have had a hatful today. The next step will be to get the forwards in on the arc when it comes to goalscoring, but right now, Steve Bruce will just be glad to have another three points on the board. This rollercoaster season on Tyneside lurches on for another week.
