OPINION
DeAndre Yedlin was the pick of the bunch among a lot of Newcastle United fans on Saturday as the USA international scored in the 2-1 win against Bournemouth at St James’ Park. Yedlin, 26, has made quite the impact in Steve Bruce’s side since returning from injury. He has started the last five Premier League matches and out of those five games, the Magpies have won three times and drawn once. It would be simplistic to say that Newcastle’s form is solely down to Yedlin’s return to fitness but there is a correlation between the two. Yedlin was superb against Bournemouth and deserves all the plaudits coming his way from fans on Twitter. Some have even claimed that the jet-heeled right-back was man of the match against the Cherries – and it is really hard to disagree with them. Miguel Almiron and Federico Fernandez also played well and could have been in the discussion but Yedlin, for his goal and overall display, should be the man of the match.

Yedlin definitely not the strongest defender we’ve ever had at RB/RWB, but what an athlete!! Had a fantastic game today. As did Joelinton, Carroll when he came on, Fernandez (as always) and a few others.
ASM absolute class. What a difference he makes. #nufc— Craig (@craigbeavers) November 9, 2019
