Steve Bruce delayed plans to release an autobiography so that he could focus on his job as Newcastle United manager, according to The Athletic.

The 58-year-old was due to release ‘Theatre of Dreams’ in October, but put the book on the back burner to take the top job at St. James’ Park.

A report from the Athletic reads: “Steve Bruce has shelved plans to release his autobiography after joining Newcastle United this summer, The Athletic has learnt.

“Bruce, the 58-year-old former Manchester United captain, has been working on his life story with Headline Publishing Group, but the release date has now been pushed back while the head coach focuses on his job at St James’ Park.”

OPINION

It’s good to see that Bruce has got his priorities straight, and at the moment, his focus on the Toon Army is actually yielding pretty decent results. Nobody would have necessary foreseen it at the beginning of the season, but two successive wins in his last two matches has helped the Magpies to open up a bit of breathing space between themselves and the drop zone. Tonight’s clash with Aston Villa could even see them climb as high as ninth in the table, and just one point off fifth place. That would be some achievement for a side who looked for all the world as if they were going to be embroiled in a relegation battle all season long. Of course, the Premier League is fickle and tight this season, and that could all change in a few games, but right now, things are looking pretty rosey on Tyneside.
