Paul Robinson has claimed that Newcastle United striker Yoshinori Muto could be on his way out of the club in the near future.

The 27-year-old has started just one game in the Premier League so far this term, and Robinson believes that he could grow frustrated with his lack of opportunity on Tyneside.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “Something will have to give.

“If a player isn’t being used or is around the squad then he is going to want to move especially if he is not getting game time.

“Bruce can probably afford to let him go, looking at what he has got.

“I think Bruce will shuffle his pack and if he wants to go and the manager wants him to go then it could be a deal that suits everybody.”

OPINION

It just hasn’t worked out for Muto at Newcastle United, and it’s difficult to see how things are going to get better for him any time soon. The Japanese international has struggled to have any kind of meaningful impact, and at the moment, he looks further away from a first team spot than ever before. With just one start under his belt, and with no form to speak of, he looks like a lost cause. He has averaged just 0.2 shots on goal and 0.4 successful dribbles per outing in the Premier League so far this term, as per Whoscored, and is yet to make any key passes. It’s necessarily that he’s doing anything wrong, but rather that he’s entirely anonymous, and in a season that continues to sway between sublime and downright concerning, the Magpies need players who can step up to the plate.
