OPINION
Newcastle United fans have slammed a journalist who claimed Jonjo Shelvey was the man of the match against Aston Villa on Monday night. Chronicle reporter Andrew Musgrove said via his personal Twitter account after the 2-0 defeat at Villa Park that Shelvey, 27, was Newcastle’s best player. Newcastle fans had already ripped the former Liverpool midfielder to shreds for his performance so they were never going to agree with what Musgrove said about him. Martin Dubravka, Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems were the only Magpies players to come anywhere near to holding their heads up high for their individual displays but on the whole, none of Steve Bruce’s squad deserves any praise. It was an awful performance from the front to back and Shelvey’s lack of work ethic and lack of effectiveness in the middle of the park was a huge concern. It would be a surprise if Bruce did not drop him for one of the Longstaff brothers this weekend.

I though he was shocking, did you see the free kick in the first half, he can be a lazy player and today he was just that. Specsavers opens at nine lad
