OPINION
Martin Dubravka did not have a bad game for Newcastle United on Monday night as they lost 2-0 to Aston Villa at Villa Park. Although he will be disappointed about the way Conor Hourihane beat him for Villa’s first goal, there was not much he could have done about the second and he did make some other good saves to keep the scoreline down to what it was. Villa striker Wesley Moraes is not the best of strikers and he has an awful night in front of Dubravka, but the Newcastle goalkeeper still had to put himself in the right positions to keep the Brazilian forward at bay. It is not at all surprising to see so many Newcastle fans praising Dubravka for his display on Monday. Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems were the other two Newcastle players who probably deserved some praise but it is hard to disagree with those claiming the Slovakian goalkeeper was the Magpies’ best player.
