OPINION

Allan Saint-Maximin can do no wrong in the eyes of the Geordie faithful at the moment. The Frenchman may have taken a while to get going in England after suffering a hamstring injury during his first few weeks at Newcastle United, but he has been electric ever since he returned to full fitness, and he looked as impressive as ever against Bournemouth on Saturday. The charismatic winger probably should have opened the scoring in the 2-1 win over the Cherries when he smashed an absolute sitter off the crossbar, but from that point onwards, he was superb. It was his assist that allowed Deandre Yedlin to head home and bring his side level, and his all-round pace and trickery was a constant source of danger. It probably shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, given that he has already averaged 5.7 successful dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League so far this campaign, as per Whoscored. The 22-year-old is exactly the kind of player that they love up on Tyneside, and his directness and willingness to cause havoc is sure to make him a Toon favourite for years to come, if he sticks around, and if he can keep this kind of form up.
