Nottingham Forest have firmly set their sights on signing Nottingham Forest Dwight Gayle on loan in January, according to Football League World.

The online source claim on their website that Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi is looking to bring in a couple of attacking options to provide more competition to Lewis Grabban in the final third.

Football League World report that the Championship side are very keen on bringing Gayle to the City Ground for the second half of the season to aid their promotion bid to the Premier League.

Gayle has yet to start a game under Steve Bruce this season, only managing three appearances off the bench in the top flight.

OPINION

Given Steve Bruce’s loyalty to Joelinton despite the summer signing only scoring once, it might be the right time for Gayle to exit the club in January. With only three appearances off the bench to his name in the Premier League, surely his chance has gone only four months into the season. Andy Carroll is more likely set to get a chance in front of Gayle, and that would be the final nail in the coffin leading up to the window. The 29-year-old would surely jump at the chance to go back into the Championship and try and earn promotion once again. Gayle scored 24 goals for West Brom last season but missed out in the play-offs, but with his only chance of Premier League football surely available to him through going up with a side like Forest to earn a consistent spot in the top flight. Grabban is a well-known goal scorer, so with him and Gayle upfront, Lamouchi would definitely be delighted with his options.
