Newcastle United defender Jetro Willems has taken to Instagram to send a message to Toon teammate Allan Saint-Maximin.

The French winger posted several photos of himself from last weekend’s 1-0 win over Manchester United to his personal account with a shooting star emoji as the caption.

Responding to that post from his own personal account, fellow United new boy Willems wrote: “Myyyy man”, followed by two love hearts.

OPINION

Saint-Maximin is already a fan favourite on Tyneside despite him having played only a handful of minutes, and it’s easy to see why. The enigmatic winger is a real mercurial talent, capable of turning on his class at the drop of a hat and leaving defenders in his dust. After a couple of false starts in a black and white shirt, the 22-year-old got 83 minutes under his belt last Sunday, and he looked every inch the creative whirlwind that the Toon Army have been crying out for. With two shots, two key passes, and four successful dribbles, as per Whoscored, Saint-Maximin never gave the Man United defence a moment’s rest, and if he can stay fit and continue that form over the rest of the season, then he could be the key to Steve Bruce’s men staying in the division.
