Dwight Gayle was named in one of Steve Bruce’s matchday squads for the first time this season when he was an unused substitute in Newcastle United’s win against Manchester United before the international break. The 28-year-old’s recovery has now led to a section of West Brom fans piping up on Twitter to urge their club to re-sign the striker in January. Gayle scored 24 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions for the Baggies last season as they fell short in their bid for promotion from the Championship, so it is understandable to see why the club’s supporters would want him back. Newcastle could be willing to strike a deal too. Joelinton is the first-choice striker at the moment and Andy Carroll looks as though he might be second-choice. Yoshinori Muto is also there and as Bruce plays a system with one striker, so selling Gayle, or loaning him out for the rest of the season, could make a lot of sense financially. West Brom fans will have to wait and see whether or not Slaven Bilic will be given the resources to pull off the move.
