Mark Douglas has revealed that Newcastle United are yet to re-enter talks with Peter Kenyon over a potential takeover of the club.
The Chronicle journalist shared that, despite promises from sources close to Kenyon admitting he was interested in completing a deal, he was yet to engage in talks with Mike Ashley again.
Douglas admitted that despite many other European parties being interested in the Magpies, none are ready to meet the asking price set by Ashley, and have fears regarding the club being relegated from the Premier League this season.
“A fortnight on from promises from sources close to Peter Kenyon that he was back in the running to buy out Newcastle United, the club are yet to engage in any new talks with the would-be Magpies owner,” he wrote.
Kenyon was first reported by the Daily Mail to have been spearheading a £300million takeover bid for Newcastle in September.

With talks failing to continue between Kenyon and the club, it seems unlikely that the fans will get their wish in the near future with fears surrounding the club’s Premier League status and the price – just some of the things that Ashley will need to make assurances over to secure a new owner for the club. With Kenyon yet to re-enter talks despite the promises being made by close sources, it appears unlikely that anything is set to change any time soon.
