The chance for Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron to leave for international duty could have given him the confidence boost he so richly needs right now. The Paraguayan has yet to be involved in a single goal for the Magpies, despite making the move to St James’ Park from Atlanta in January. The 25-year-old has no excuse for that and should have done better when being utilised as a striker by Steve Bruce this season. That move has seen him presented with chances in the final third, and he has yet to take advantage, something that must change quickly. In four games at the Copa America in the summer, Almiron delivered a couple of assists so the chance to get away and potentially rediscover some sort of form would have been welcome. The South American forward did the complete opposite of that against Serbia on Thursday and was actually sent off in the game after picking up a second yellow for diving. Many Newcastle fans took to Twitter to tear apart their forward, slamming him for his embarrassing antics.
