OPINION
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has responded to a statement by Newcastle United which said the club is “disappointed” by the politician’s comments about football ownership. Corbyn appears to be completely unphased by the statement and has taken to his personal Twitter account to simply thank the Tyneside club for sharing his views about Mike Ashley for “ruining” the game. Newcastle fans are understandably loving the Labour leader’s response to the statement. Anything that goes against Ashley is going to leave supporters with a smile on their face and Corbyn, as some fans point out, has rattled the Newcastle owner’s cage with his comments. It’s good because Corbyn is actually someone who might be able to make a bit of a difference. We’ve heard some MPs, football pundits and fans hit out at Ashley for his ownership but Corbyn is arguably one of the most powerful people yet to blast the Sports Direct tycoon.

You’re not wrong. Former season ticket holder here. Not buying another one under this ownership
