Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin has admitted that he wants to be playing regularly now after injury problems blighted the start of his Magpies career.
The 22-year-old has made just two starts so far this season since his summer move from OGC Nice [Source: Transfermarkt], but returned from the outset against Manchester United on Sunday.
Now, he has set his stall out moving forward: “I feel much better now and I think you can still see that on the pitch,” he told The Chronicle.
“I need to play more now. I want to be playing every game, then I’ll feel much better. I’m happy because I played in the game at Spurs and we won, and now I started against Man United I won.”

This will be music to the Newcastle fans ears, because Saint-Maximin playing regularly is exactly what they want. Head coach Steve Bruce has wanted Saint-Maximin available to him from the moment he walked through the door, but he’s had to be patient and utilise Christian Atsu in his place for the majority of the time thus far. However, he came into the team against the Red Devils at the weekend and performed very well in a terrific team display. The statistics show that this is someone who can provide the Magpies with an extra attacking spark. As per WhoScored.com, the Frenchman had two shots on Sunday, while he also produced a further two key passes. He also embarked on four successful dribbles and was fouled once. He needs to be better in possession, that’s for sure. Of his 17 passes only 58.8% of them found their man, but his WhoScored rating for the game of 7.08 shows you that he produced a positive display against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
