There is no hiding from the fact that Newcastle United are due a clear out of their senior squad.

Steve Bruce arrived at the club just after the Magpies had sold their two top-scorers Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon, and was left with the task of rebuilding for the start of the Premier League.

As well as bringing in a number of new faces, there were a large group of old ones that were sticking around to see if they would be needed this season.

The likes of Rolando Aarons and Jack Colback returned from loan spells in the Championship only to find out that they would not be included in the Newcastle squad for the Premier League this season.

Bruce had to be strict, and it was inevitable that he was going to upset one or two of his players with the decision, but that is the harsh reality of the top-flight.

Achraf Lazaar was another player who missed out on the squad and was immediately shipped out on loan to Italian side Cosenza, who currently play in the Serie B.

The Chronicle has recently reported that the Italian side have been informed by Newcastle that they will be able to make the Moroccan’s loan spell a permanent move at the end of this season.

This would be definitely the right call from the Magpies, and Lazaar can have no complaints that his spell in the North East is potentially coming to an end.

Lazaar only ever made 10 appearances for the club despite joining way back in 2016 from Palermo, and even failed to make a single outing in the Premier League during his stint at the club.

Newcastle have definitely made the right call to let the left-back leave the club should Cosenza want to make the move permanent, and Lazaar can only have himself to blame for not taking advantage of his brief spell in the team.
