Peter Kenyon would like to shake things up at Newcastle United if his takeover bid is successful, according to the Chronicle.

The newspaper claim on their website that Kenyon has already identified a number of ways he could do just that at St James’ Park, including utilising his friendship with super-agent Jorge Mendes in the transfer market, something he hopes would give the Magpies fresh impetus.

The Chronicle report that Kenyon is also keen to use his extensive list of contacts in the commercial sphere, and has identified India and E-Racing as two areas of interest that he could use to his and the club’s benefit.

OPINION

Well, it appears as if Kenyon has massive plans in place before his takeover bid has even got off the ground at Newcastle. What the Magpies need at this moment is an owner who can come in and splash the cash on the squad, rather than another owner who puts his own business interests ahead of the club as Mike Ashley has for more than a decade. Ashley has only just broken the transfer record from 2005 at the club this year, and if you don’t keep investing in your squad you will risk being left behind in the Premier League. With talk of Kenyon utilising his friendship with Mendes, Newcastle fans will surely start to let themselves get a little excited at the prospect of the superagent, with Kenyon’s previous work with Chelsea and Manchester United obviously very benefitial. Compare this to Ashley and his business during his time in the North East, and it is clear to see why some could get carried away, but they must take everything they read with a pinch of salt.
