Some Newcastle United fans slammed midfielder Sean Longstaff for his performance in the 1-1 draw with Watford on Saturday. The 21-year-old was so bad in the mind of some supporters on social media, that one fan even claimed it was the central midfielder’s worst game for the club yet. However, it doesn’t seem like Magpies boss Steve Bruce agreed with the fans below as the youngster ended up staying on the pitch for the full 90minutes.  While some seemed to put Longstaff’s performance down to him being off the pace, which is understandable as his 2018/19 campaign was prematurely ended due to injury, his display wasn’t exactly unacceptable. The 21-year-old did try to make things happen as he had two shots on goal, one hit the target, and made three key passes (Source: WhoScored). However, one Newcastle fan did highlight their issue with Longstaff on Saturday was how inaccurate his general passing was. Only 79.4% of his passes found their mark, as per WhoScored, which is disappointly low for a midfielder, but it’s worth noting the Magpies’ passing was sloppy across the board. This looks to be the case when you consider seven players had a worse pass completion rate than Longstaff despite his being under 80%.
