Many Newcastle United fans fumed after a report claimed that Steve Bruce was toying with the idea of dropping Miguel Almiron for the clash with Leicester City. The Daily Star reported that Bruce may decide to axe the Magpies attacker in order to take him out of the firing line following a poor start to the season. Despite Almiron failing to rack up any goals or assists so far, many Newcastle fans were vocal on social media that Bruce axing Almiron would be the wrong decision. One Newcastle fan claimed it would the worst decision of the season yet, another supporter claimed they would be officially done with the club if Almiron was dropped while several seemed to be keen on Almiron playing as at least he tried unlike midfielder Jonjo Shelvey. The Paraguayan attacker has put himself about in order to try and open his goalscoring account for the Magpies, he has averaged 1.3 shots per game across his league outings (Source: WhoScored), and it’s unclear whether Bruce actually has a player capable of filling in for Almiron.
