The former Magpies midfielder revealed that he thought in the clash against Brighton, you could see the Paraguayan was clearly desperate to break his goalscoring duck and was low on confidence.
Clark pointed out that Almiron had a chance that he would have easily converted against Brighton if he was confident, and that shows that Clark has faith in the Magpies’ attackers ability.
The former Newcastle ace then highlighted Almiron’s brilliant work ethic and stated that he believes that as soon as the 25-year-old gets one goal to restore his confidence that he could soon go on a bit of a run.
“Instead he just fired it straight down the goalkeeper’s throat.
“That’s a player who is trying desperately hard to break this goalscoring duck.
“He’s got such a brilliant work ethic for the team, the reports you get from the training ground is that he works ever so hard on the pitch and I think everybody that is associated with the club are willing Almiron on to get this goal because I think if he gets the first one, his confidence levels will rise and he’ll go on a bit of a run.”
Many Newcastle fans would love to see Almiron be amongst the goals in the near future, as you can see he is doing everything he can to succeed after failing to score or register an assist in his 16 outings.
After all the 25-year-old is clearly trying to break his duct as he has averaged 1.3 shots per game this season and has completed 1.2 dribbles per match in order to attempt to be a lethal attacking threat. (Source: WhoScored)
While Almiron can be frustrating, his display against Brighton was disappointing as his pass completion rate was only 30%, you can’t deny he tries and the average fan appreciates that. (Source: WhoScored)
Also, Newcastle supporters would also love to see Almiron start to be a reliable goal threat, just like Clark implied by predicting Almiron could go on a goalscoring run, as their side clearly needs one.
Steve Bruce’s side have only managed four goals in their opening six games and as a result, they’ve struggled to rack up positive results, which has left them 17th in the Premier League.
However, if Almiron goes on a goalscoring run then points will be easier to get on the board.
