Alongside the signing of Francillette, Newcastle also confirmed the arrivals of midfielder Kyle Scott and goalkeeper Jake Turner, with both of those following the French defender into the under-23s this season.
It is always good to look to the future to try and attract the brightest talents to the club. Newcastle will want to replicate the early success of Francillette at St James’ Park, as the young defender appears to have impressed Redfearn in his first month at the club. With scouting missions already underway across Europe, the Magpies will be compiling a list of youth talent to potentially bring to the club. After a poor start to the season for the under-23s – in which they have only won one of four fixtures – Redfearn will be desperate for reinforcements, especially after conceding 13 goals. 10 of the under-23s squad are missing through loans and injuries so far, and the club has had to call-up some under-18s already. Success in the academy can only benefit the first-team and Bruce, who will want to see results from the youngsters and potentially look to call them up at some point this season.
