Dion Dublin believes Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is the right man to help put the football club back on the map.

The former Premier League forward admitted that things weren’t gelling at the Magpies currently for Bruce, but that didn’t stop him believing the current boss was the right man.

Dublin shared that Bruce just had to find a way to ensure all the players start pulling in the same direction.

“At the moment it doesn’t seem to be gelling, Bruce has got to make sure that he is trying his hardest to get that huge football club back on the map and I do think he is in the right man to be at Newcastle,” said Dublin on Premier League Matchday Pack (BT Sport 1, 9:26am, Saturday, September 28th).

“It’s just about getting the players to pull the same way.”

OPINION

Dublin’s confidence in Bruce is impressive considering the Magpies’ start to the season. While Newcastle did achieve a surprise 1-0 victory over Tottenham, a side that finished runners-up in the Champions League last season, that’s been the only highlight so far. The Magpies currently sit 17th in the Premier League after only racking up five points from their first six games. Aside from just failing to get points on the board, the Magpies have also worryingly struggled to make the ball hit the back of the net. Newcastle have only scored four goals in their opening six games and no member of their squad has managed to contribute more than a single goal, which is something Bruce needs to address. While Dublin believes that Newcastle’s team just need to start singing from the same hymn sheet, you do feel the Magpies’ problems are a little more complex than that. Bruce has to find a way for the Magpies to create more chances in front of goal, and probably needs to find a way to unlock Miguel Almiron’s full potential as he is still yet to register a goal or an assist despite his efforts.
