Martin Dubravka is set to be offered a new deal at Newcastle United that will see his wages double to around £70,000-a-week, according to Football Insider.

The 30-year-old is understood to be in talks over a new contract to replace the four-year deal he signed when he joined the Magpies permanently.

And according to this latest report, the club are confident that the stopper will put pen to paper on the lucrative terms of this new extension.

OPINION

Getting Dubravka tied down to a new deal would be a fantastic piece of business for the Magpies. The big Slovak has been a revelation since arriving on Tyneside, and has made 137 saves in 55 league appearances for the Toon Army, as well as keeping 16 clean sheets, as per the Premier League. That gives him an average of 2.5 saves per game, and without some of his interventions, it doesn’t bear thinking about where the Magpies might have ended up last season. £70,000-a-week may seem like a lot of money, especially for Newcastle, but the fact that the club are willing to spend such a fee just to keep hold of Dubravka should tell you exactly how important he is to the side. Here’s hoping that he puts pen to paper.
