Tony Cascarino heaped praise on Newcastle trio Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Christian Atsu ahead of the Magpies’ clash with Watford on Saturday.

The pundit claimed that the Magpies would offer a threat when facing the Hornets at St James Park and suggested the attacking trio could prove to be a great challenge for Watford.

“They’re going to Newcastle and they offer a threat,” said Cascarino on talkSPORT (6:16am, Saturday, August 31st).

“Joelinton, Almiron and Atsu are a handful and that is a great challenge for Watford to have.”

The Hornets are aiming to secure their first league win of the season against the Magpies on Saturday after losing to Brighton, Everton and West Ham.

OPINION

Cascarino avoids predicting the outcome of Newcastle’s clash with Watford, but he clearly believes Steve Bruce’s side are capable of getting a win. The pundit wouldn’t have warned Watford about the Magpies’ attacking threats otherwise. Given that all three of the players he mentioned above excelled in the 1-0 win over Tottenham last weekend, it’s easy to see why he put the spotlight on the trio. Atsu is the most interesting player he has picked out as the 27-year-old has only ever had a bit-part role at St James Park in recent seasons, however that may be about to change. The 27-year-old replaced Allan Saint-Maximin in the victory over Spurs and he changed the game upon coming on. After all, it was Atsu’s delicately placed lobbed pass that landed at Joelinton’s feet in order for the Brazilian to have the perfect opportunity to fire the ball home. The Magpies attacker played three key passes against Spurs, averaged a rating 7.41 on WhoScored for his latest display, and a similar display by him against Watford could see the Hornets suffer yet another defeat.
