Clubs ‘queuing up’ for Sorensen

Elias Sorensen must think long and hard before making his next move.

A host of Football League clubs are queuing up to sign Newcastle United starlet Elias Sorensen, according to the Chronicle.

The Danish teenager spent a brief and unsuccessful spell with Blackpool last season, but that hasn’t deterred a host of suitors from Leagues One and Two from weighing up a move for him.

And while Sorensen himself has admitted that he would rather stay and fight for his place on Tyneside, as quoted in the report, the decision ultimately rests with new manager Steve Bruce.

It is understood that there are also options for the striker to go out on loan to the continent too.

But it is absolutely imperative that Newcastle pick out the right loan move for Sorensen this season.

The youngster must have thought that last term was going to be his first step towards breaking into the senior game, but his move to Blackpool was cut short and encompassed just 34 minutes of action. That cannot be allowed to happen again.

Wherever he goes, Sorensen must be playing regular football. There is undoubtedly a lot of promise there, but he is still a fairly unrefined talent, and the only way he is going to improve is by getting minutes under his belt.

Suggesting that he would be happy to stay and fight for a place in the north east, seems like a fairly optimistic hope when he couldn’t do enough to convince a League One side of his worth last term.

There’s no questioning that a loan is the best move for, but signing off on the right one will be crucial.
