Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Allan Saint-Maximin from OGC Nice and it is no surprise to see so many fans drooling over the news on Twitter. According to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, the 22-year-old forward is expected to undergo a medical with the Magpies this weekend with a £16million agreement close to being agreed with Nice. Newcastle have only signed Joelinton for their first-team so far this summer and when another exciting young player from the continent is on his way to St James’ Park, it’s hard to not get excited. Newcastle need new players in almost every position and hopefully they don’t stop here and settle for Joelinton and the French forward as their only two summer signings. Steve Bruce’s squad is still very short of quality and a couple of injuries or suspensions could give him some real selection headaches next season. Saint-Maximin’s arrival is good news, but it’s difficult to get too excited at the moment with there now being less than a week before the transfer window slams shut.
