OPINION

Friday saw Newcastle United’s transfer business considerably pick up after the Magpies confirmed the signings of Jetro Willems and Allan Saint-Maximin within the space of a few hours. Steve Bruce will no doubt have been delighted with Saint-Maximin, who will add much-needed depth to his attacking ranks for next season. The 22-year-old will be expected to come in and replace the goals of the club’s two top-scorers from last season Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon who have both left the club. Saint-Maximin is more than capable of doing just that after he averaged 2.2 shots on goal last season every game. Add to that the fact that he also averaged 1.7 key passes and completed 4.2 dribbles [Source: WhoScored] – it only highlights that more often than not, the French winger is involved in goalscoring opportunities. After completing his move, Saint-Maximin delivered a 10-word message on his personal Twitter account revealing how proud he is to join the club. Many Newcastle fans were in awe of the young flyer when reacting to his tweet, with one even claiming that he is the “French Messi.”
