OPINION
Christian Atsu had some impact when he came off the bench in the first half. Although it was gutting to see Allan Saint-Maximin suffer what looked like a recurrence of his hamstring injury, Atsu’s introduction as a substitute meant that Newcastle United could take the lead after the Ghana international perfectly teed up Joelinton to score the first half of his career in England. It wasn’t just the assist by Atsu that made him stand-out in the first half. The winger was everywhere, linking up with players, finding passes and being a real thorn in the side of Tottenham’s defence. It is no surprise to see so many Newcastle fans gushing over Atsu for what he did in the first half and there is bound to be a great case for him to start the next game with Saint-Maximin looking as though he is set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
