Newcastle winger has completed a move to side Sheffield Wednesday.

OPINION

This move is a real win-win for everybody involved. On the one hand, Newcastle are getting rid of a player who has little chance of troubling their first team this season, and it also allows them to bring their size down with the Premier League’s 25-man limit hanging over their head. From the player’s point of view, he gets to go out and play at a club that will be well suited to him and that will offer him more opportunities to prove his quality at a high level. For Wednesday, they are getting a dangerous player who registered an average of 1.7 successful dribbles per 90 minutes last season, as well as 2.4 shots on goal per 90, as per Whoscored. Murphy has never really looked as if he could cut it in the Premier League, so having him off the books this term could be a real positive for Bruce.
