Greg Lake shared he was hoping more Newcastle United fans started shredding their season ticket renewal forms after a supporter went viral for destroying his.
Magpies fan Simon Wallace posted a tweet of his son putting the form into the shredder and vowed to not give the club any more money until Newcastle owner Mike Ashley left.
“Not today, get out of our club! Nor more money from us till he’s gone,” wrote Wallace in a tweet that currently has 104 retweets and 533 likes.
Wallace’s tweet caught the attention of Lake, who featured on the first season of MTV’s Geordie Shore, and he posted a seven-word tweet to reveal he would love other Magpies fans to give up their season tickets too.

Wow, if this doesn’t prove the mood at St James Park among supporters is at an all-time low, nothing will. Newcastle United are often praised for having a passionate and loyal fanbase, and if fans are starting to give up their season tickets then it says how fed up they are with the direction the club is heading in. Magpies fans seem to have reached their last straw with Ashley after Rafa Benitez exited the club. The Spanish manager left St James Park and as yet a replacement for him hasn’t arrived, even though pre-season hasn’t gotten underway. The 59-year-old averaged 1.48 points per game across the 146 matches he was in charge of at the Magpies, and with an impressive record like that it’s no surprise his exit has riled up fans. Under Benitez’s guidance, the Magpies finished 10th in the Premier League in their 2017/18 campaign before comfortably avoiding relegation in their 2018/19 season by finishing 13th. You feel if Ashley doesn’t sell up soon or a new manager who can make people forget Benitez doesn’t arrive shortly, then St James Park may feel like a ghost town when the Magpies’ play Arsenal in their first game of the 2019/20 season.
