Gaz Beadle tipped Newcastle United to get relegated after fuming about the club appointing Steve Bruce as Rafa Benitez’s successor.

The 31-year-old, who found fame on MTV’s Geordie Shore, vented about Bruce being appointed as the Magpies’ boss after Newcastle confirmed the news on Wednesday, and used the hashtag relegation battle to share how he thought the Toon would fare in their upcoming campaign.

“Hahahahaha ******* fantastic  Rafa to Steve Bruce ,” wrote Beadle on his Twitter account, which has 2.4million followers.

Beadle then elaborated on Thursday how likely he thought it would be for Newcastle to suffer relegation under Bruce when talking to a golf pro, and implied it was very likely as there was more chance of him playing a draw.

The ‘draw’ golf shot that Beadle is referring to is one of the most desired shots in golf, and the reality star clearly implies he’d struggle to play a shot like that.

“More chance of me playing a draw then Newcastle staying up,” added the reality TV star.

OPINION

While Beadle may not be associated with football normally, his support of Newcastle United shines through on this occasion. The 31-year-old is clearly as frustrated as most other Newcastle fans likely are over Bruce being hired and he doesn’t hold back. In fact, it seems Beadle is not only ready for the Magpies to be embroiled in a relegation battle but is already preparing for them to lose it. While it’s too early to predict who is going down just yet, as the transfer window is still open, Beadle’s remarks are a reflection of how Bruce is percieved. The 58-year-old hasn’t managed in the Premier League since failing to stop Hull City being relegated and there has to be a reason for that. While Bruce’s recent record in the Championship is admirable on paper, he averaged 1.61 points per match at Sheffield Wednesday and 1.60 points per game at Aston Villa, as per Transfermarkt, it doesn’t mean that he is capable of being a success in England’s top-flight with the Magpies.
