Aarons clearly getting chance

Newcastle United attacker Rolando Aarons is surely destined for a real shot at redemption at St James Park unless there is a dramatic change of events.

According to the Chronicle, Magpies boss Steve Bruce is a real admirer of the Magpies winger, hence why he took him to Sheffield Wednesday on loan last season and he is keen to take a closer look at him in pre-season.

Given Bruce’s reported view, it surely sounds like Aarons is going to get a chance to feature for the Magpies in competitive games in the upcoming season as if he is already admirer, the 23-year-old would really have to mess up to suddenly be kicked out the door.

And that doesn’t seem like a plausible scenario as the winger’s attitude seems to be in order based on his latest remarks.

Aarons shared that he was grateful for another chance at St James Park under Bruce and even seemed eager to be at the club as he revealed he loved playing games and couldn’t wait for the next one.

“We’re grateful for it, me especially,” said Aarons, as quoted by the Chronicle.

“I did not play much under the previous manager. I’m hopefully now looking to get another opportunity.

“Hibs is next and the games come thick and fast but that’s what we are paid to do and we love it.

“I love playing games and can’t wait.”

The 23-year-old winger previously looked like the real deal at the Magpies as he broke into the first-team in the 2014/15 season before showing glimpses in his 2015/16 campaign when not inflicted with injuries.

However, Aarons managed only four appearances for the Magpies when they dropped down to the Championship and then has proceeded to have uninspiring loan spells at Italian side Hellas Verona and Croatian side Slovan Liberec.

Yet when you consider he showed glimpses of the player he was previously hoped to be at Sheffield Wednesday last season as he scored one, assisted one, had a pass completion rate of 75.5% and averaged a rating of 6.85, as per WhoScored, under Bruce then it’s easy to imagine him being called upon in the upcoming campaign.
