Newcastle United are planning a spending spree and Burnley attacker Dwight McNeil is on their shortlist, according to The Sun.

The national newspaper claim that the Magpies are willing to spend £15million on the 19-year-old winger as they’re looking to inject pace into their side.

The Sun reports that Burnley value McNeil highly with him rated as being worth £30million and add that the teenager is also a transfer target for Tottenham and Juventus.

OPINION

Is this not classic Newcastle? The Magpies are keen on a £30million-rated player but only want to pay half his potential price tag in order to sign him. However, you do feel McNeil’s value is so high due to his potential rather than his current ability. After all, if the attacker is able to shine in the Premier League at just 19-years-old, imagine how good he could up being with more experience under his belt. McNeil shone bright at Turf Moor in his 2018/19 goals as he was involved in getting Sean Dyche’s side eight goals across his 21 league outings. The teenager scored three goals, while assisting five, and it’s clearly easy to imagine him being a force on the flank for Steve Bruce if Newcastle sign him. This is especially the case when you consider he crossed the ball 117 times in his league outings, according to the Premier League, as with the right striker in the box those crosses could easily lead to goals.
