COMMENTARY
Many Newcastle fans destroyed midfielder Jack Colback on Saturday after watching him play against West Ham. The Magpies may have beaten their Premier League rivals 1-0, but it seems a large section of supporters didn’t think the 29-year-old deserved any credit for his part in the victory. One Newcastle fan asked how Colback was still robbing a living by featuring for the club, while another claimed the midfielder was way out of his depth despite it being a friendly. While Colback did make one noticeable blooper, he passed the ball into an empty box and lost possession as a result, his performance didn’t warrant him being torn apart by fans. The 29-year-old midfielder clearly was giving 100% in order to impress Steve Bruce, and you feel fans were rooting for him to fail if anything. Colback may have been deemed not good enough under Rafa Benitez, he spent his 2018/19 season on loan at Nottingham Forest, playing 39 times for them, but fans should at least let him be able to try to prove his worth in pre-season.
